I am so excited and extremely thankful for the opportunity to live in Des Moines this January. I will be a communications and marketing intern with the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI). http://www.iowaabi.org/ The ABI is a very broad organization that focuses on promoting and encouraging commerce in the state of Iowa. The connections I will make and experiences I will have during this short month will keep me extremely busy and inspired. Iowa has so much more to offer than many of us realize!
I will have the opportunity to coordinate events, take part in a Leadership Iowa meeting at Camp Dodge, visit the World Food Prize building, Judicial building, and the Capitol. In my opinion, the best part about internships is getting the opportunity to own a few projects and take responsibility for them. I will be writing press releases, emails, managing social media, and contacting professionals and businesses.
Des Moines is such a fun city and I am really looking forward to seeing it as a resident instead of just visiting the mall and a few restaurants like usual. It will be fun to explore new places to eat lunch downtown and visit every coffee shop. :)
