This week had been absolutly crazy. We have three events next week, the Leadership Iowa session, the Leadership Iowa alumni event, and a legislative reception.
Even though my education is very valuable and I learn so much in my classes, I haven't noticed much of a gap between the classroom and the real world. In this position I have really benefited from my outside experiences, especially catering for Lidderdale Country Store over the past five years. I have called and made arrangements with three different caterers in the last two days and it has been a lot easier since I have worked in the industry.
Event planning requires you to be very organized and keep track of many details at once. My experiences in the classroom have taught me to prioritize and manage my time well, which has prepared me to jump right into fast paced work.
The below is my idea of a lunch break. Its hard because its so much easier to bring a lunch from home but its always nice to get out of the office for a little break. I walked a few blocks to the Village Bean for some coffee.
